What the official sources say
Facility network
San Bernardino County Public Works says its solid-waste system includes five regional landfills and nine transfer stations. The destination matters because facility, vehicle, and material rules are not identical.
Accepted waste
The county's accepted-waste page lists limits and preparation for items such as tires, appliances, and other special loads. Paint and HHW are not ordinary landfill material.
HHW
San Bernardino County Fire's HHW program lists accepted resident products and says proof of residency may be requested. Business waste needs another route.
Fee caution
The county fee page we reviewed still labels its posted rates as effective July 1, 2023. Because that date is old, WasteWayfinder links the page but does not present those numbers as current 2026 pricing.
Verify directly. The official fee page available during our August 4, 2026 review displayed an older July 1, 2023 effective date, so we do not reproduce it as a current fee schedule.
Before leaving home or the jobsite
- Use the county facility map or directory to choose a specific site.
- Check whether the site accepts public self-haul and the exact material.
- Read appliance, tire, tarping, length, and hazardous-waste restrictions.
- Ask the county for the current total charge before relying on an older fee page.
How this page is verified
This page separates current operational guidance from an older-dated fee schedule. A source can be official and still be too old to use as a current price quote.
We reviewed the linked agency and program pages, recorded the date, and separated dated fees from general directory results. We did not personally visit every facility and we do not treat third-party ratings as proof of acceptance.
Emergency closures, capacity limits, residency, vehicle restrictions, unsafe loads, and material contamination can override normal guidance. Keep an official confirmation and a backup plan.
