ABOUT

A clearer route for unwanted stuff.

WasteWayfinder is an independent research project built around one practical question: “Where can I take this?”

Page reviewed September 6, 2026

The problem is a scattered decision

Disposal information lives across city pages, county programs, hauler notices, retailer programs, facility directories, and scale-house rules. The same item can follow different routes depending on condition, quantity, source address, vehicle, and whether it came from a home or business.

WasteWayfinder brings those pieces into one planning flow: classify the material, understand the safe routes, find nearby research leads, and return to the official source for final confirmation. The goal is fewer rejected loads and fewer items left where they do not belong.

What we publish

Material guides

Original plain-language preparation, safety, reuse, recycling, and call-ahead questions.

Project plans

Sorting and documentation plans for remodels, cleanouts, and storm debris.

Local research

Dated official-source summaries where we can support rules and pricing carefully.

Nationwide breadth, local depth

The index contains 28,326 public-record facility records across 55 state and U.S.-territory files. Of those, 27,854 have a usable non-placeholder coordinate and can enter distance search; 472 records with a 0,0 placeholder are retained in the source count but excluded from results. Visitors can start from 32,350 Census places and 11,899 ZIP-code entries. That breadth is useful for discovery, but it is not the same as confirmation. The public verification and release log records the current data date and file-audit results.

Our first deeper source-check pilot covers Riverside, Orange, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and San Diego counties. These guides identify jurisdiction boundaries, dated agency rules, household programs, and pricing limitations. We expand only when the supporting research can be maintained.

What we do not claim

WasteWayfinder is not a government agency, facility operator, hauler, broker, or emergency service. We have not personally inspected every place in the nationwide directory. A search result does not prove public access, current operation, acceptance of a particular item, or a specific price.

No page in the current release is labeled as a firsthand facility inspection. Advertising does not change search order, source selection, or editorial conclusions, and ad code is excluded from the directory search, collection hubs, contact, policy, and verification pages. We do not accept payment to mark a place source checked. Suggested listings enter the same research process as every other lead.

Who writes the guides

Pages are published by the WasteWayfinder Research Desk, our site-level byline for research assembled from the primary sources shown on each page. When we have not made a personal visit or call, we say so. Future firsthand field checks will be labeled with the method and date.
