EDITORIAL POLICY

Show the source. State the limit.

Our standard is practical guidance with visible sourcing, honest review dates, and no invented prices or firsthand claims.

Our byline

“WasteWayfinder Research Desk” is an organizational byline for pages researched and edited by the site. It is not a claim that a named expert personally visited the listed facilities. Each article identifies a review date and links to the sources that support material claims.

Source order

  1. Government agencies and statutes or regulations when they directly control the rule.
  2. Official stewardship, retailer, utility, hauler, recycler, or facility pages for current program details.
  3. Public datasets for nationwide discovery, clearly labeled as research leads.
  4. Community suggestions as leads that require independent checking.

We prefer the page that owns the rule. A search-engine snippet, map review, or copied directory is not enough to mark a facility verified.

What “reviewed” means

A review date means we opened the linked source and checked that it supported the statement on that date. It does not mean the destination was personally visited or called. “Source checked” is different from “facility confirmed,” and both can become outdated after publication.

Pricing policy

We publish a numerical price only when it is tied to a named official source, a defined material or vehicle class, and an effective period that appears current. We preserve qualifications such as minimum charges, weight thresholds, residency, and hard-to-handle surcharges. If an official page appears old or ambiguous, we link it but do not present the number as current.

Original value

Our guides do more than repeat an accepted-items list. They explain how condition changes a route, how to prepare the material, which safety or legal issue can stop a normal trip, what to ask before loading, and how the nationwide directory differs from verified local research. We do not create thousands of auto-generated city pages from the same template.

Advertising and listings

Advertising is separated from the editorial process. An advertiser cannot buy a favorable guide conclusion, a verification label, or a higher directory rank. We may eventually offer clearly labeled business services, but payment will not replace source review.

Corrections and updates

Send the page URL, disputed statement, and best primary source through the contact form. We prioritize dangerous instructions, closures, prohibited materials, and incorrect jurisdiction or pricing. Material corrections update the page review date. We may remove a claim while researching it.

Use and safety

WasteWayfinder is for planning, not emergency response or professional hazardous-material advice. Do not transport an actively leaking, heating, smoking, reactive, pressurized, or unknown dangerous item based on a web article. Use emergency services and local hazardous-waste professionals where appropriate.
